The Firecrest Trail

The Firecrest Trail is the grand exploration of the park and forest. Venture along over 6 miles of woodland paths and forest tracks rising and falling past forest clearings, dense undergrowth and open glades.

Distance: 6 miles

Duration: 2-3 hours

Terrain: A lengthy walk on firm paths and soft forest tracks. Can be muddy in places. Wear sturdy walking boots.

Description: The trail starts by the Visitor Centre and ventures through the arboretum before heading into the 50,000 acre Thetford Forest. Along 6 miles of winding trails and wide forest tracks you'll discover the deeper beauty of the forest with its vast plantations of pine and mixed woodland. Explore the open landscape of Brandon Heath with its solitary birch trees and big open skies. Return to the Visitor Centre via the 'haunted' mausoleum - watch out for Baron Boretto, our resident ghost!
